I stayed at the Golden Star Hotel in Kabul for 8 days and had a really nice experience.
Good location (all sorts of shops around) and a nice restaurant on the last floor.
I picked a room with no street view and it was really quiet.
My room had 2 beds (1 single and 1 double). AC, fridge, TV and western style toilet.
There was also a kettle, cups and tea.
The staff was really kind and helpful: whenever I needed a taxi to a place "outside of the touristic route", they made sure to translate it to the taxi driver. They also kept my luggage for free once I traveled to other provinces.
